Yes, we are mainly a vehicle donation provider for veterans and veterans’ charities, HOWEVER, we spend a lot of time here at Vets Vehicles researching veterans’ issues and benefits so that we can tell our donors about the most accessible, helpful ways to support veterans.
There are a number of great resources out there for information about veterans’ benefits, education, health, family support, etc. We thought we would tell you about a few. See our list below of some of the top veteran support resources.
1. U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs Website: This is a good place to start if you’re looking for the “official” information about your rights and benefits as a U.S. veteran. You can look up your health benefits, enroll for the GI Bill and even order any medical prescriptions you might have online. We also highly recommend the official VA blog called VAntage Point. It covers veterans-related news, issues and VA announcements.
2. Next Steps for Vets | NBCnews.com: This is a web portal that was recently launched to provide tools to veterans, transitioning services members and military spouses to help them go back to school or find a job. You can use the resume-engine tool to translate your military experience into marketable resume language, evaluate benefits you are eligible for using the G.I. bill calculator, even look for a job using the National Resource Directory’s Veteran Job Bank!
3. Institute for Veterans and Military Families (IVMF): This is great resource not only for veterans statistics but also for education and training programs designed specifically for veterans and their families. IVMF offers training programs for veterans with disabilities, caregivers and family members, veteran women, guard/reserve members and family and transitioning services members.
Of course there are countless other resources available out there to help veterans, but we thought we’d just name a few! Check back to our blog for more information about veterans resources and ways to support veterans.
